    NSBDE Memorandum on Temporary Licenses for Dentist and Dental Hygienist

    Under the authority of the Governor’s Declaration of Emergency Directive 011, the Board has issued a memorandum announcing certain changes to the statutes and rules governing the licensing of dentist and dental hygienist: 

    Temporary Licensure – Dental and dental hygiene school graduates who are unable to take the clinical examination but meet all other licensure requirements are eligible to receive a temporary license.

    NSBDE Memorandum regarding Temporary Unrestricted Licenses (Dental and Dental Hygiene) ***UPDATED***

    On September 15, 2020, the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners voted to approve the temporary use of manikin-based clinical examination for the American Board of Dental Examiners (“ADEX”)  dental and dental hygienist examinations, and the CompeDont tooth for restorative procedures testing under ADEX. During board meetings on October 8, 2020 and October 20, 2020, the board also voted to approve the temporary use of manikin-based clinical examination results for the Western Regional Examining Board (WREB), and to extend deadlines for acceptance of ADEX results through June 30, 2021. 

     

    Accordingly, applicants who complete these ADEX or WREB alternatives to live-patient clinical examination from May 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, and who have completed all other requirements for licensure by examination (NRS 631.230/NRS 631.290) will be eligible for a temporary unrestricted license.
